Evelyn with her ballet class. Evelyn is the one on the far left in the back row
I have to share the story of how we almost missed her first ballet recital so I never forget, lol. If you don't care to hear it, then just skip ahead ;)Evelyn took ballet at the the Tri-City Academy of Ballet and it is one of, if not the biggest dance studios in the area. They split up the recital into 4 acts, each act had 15 dances, with the exception of Evelyn's which had 16. Evelyn's class was performing second to last in act 3. Got it? lol. Friday night they had a rehearsal with about 85% of the routines doing their dances and they were doing a run through just like they would do for the real thing on Saturday. According to the schedule they said it would run from 4:00 to 6:30. So we got to the rehearsals at 4 and waited and waited and waited and waited and finally Evelyn's class got called up at 6:45. So she was second to last in act 3 and they already running behind and not even all the classes were performing at the rehearsals. According to the schedule, on Saturday her act would run from 3:00 to 4:30. So I figured if we got to the recital by 3:30 we would have PLENTY of time and then we wouldn't have to sit around forever in the not so pleasant weather. We actually ended up getting to the recital at about 3:20 and we were standing in the back looking for a place to sit when I noticed all these little girls lining up next to the stage, I thought "hmm...that looks kind of like Evelyn's class, I better go check it out" so I grabbed Evelyn, ran to the stage and realized it WAS her class and by now they were lining up to go on stage!! AHHHHH! These super nice and helpful 12ish year old girls grabbed her a tutu and crown while I torn off her boots and coat and put her slippers on and she had jsut enough time to grab the last girls hand as she went on stage, *whew*!!!. I thought I was going to have a panic attack, I couldn't stop shaking for hours, lol. Luckily they are only 4 and it's not the end of the world and she DID make it, but wow, it was close! Evelyn ABSOLUTLY LOVED dancing on stage and couldn't have been happier that day :)
We told Grandma and Grandpa Burch to be there by 4...yeah, they missed it, lol, they walked up just as she was coming off stage. Luckily we got it on video though so they could watch it later. And thanks to Grandma and Grandpa Chandler for coming over for the recital and birthday.
As a side note, Cassidy loves watching Evelyn dance and to this day even says "Evelyn ballet" everytime we drive by the dance studio.
