Changes

Dear Readers,
I am so delighted that you all read my blog! After all, the reason I have it and try to keep it up to date is so that those of you who don't live near us can see our beautiful daughter as she is learning and growing and see what our family is up to. Due to recent events though I have made some changes to the commenting section. I will no longer allow anonymous commenters and I will approve all comments before letting everyone else read them. I'm sure there are more people that read my blog than I know about, but if you are going to leave a comment I would at least like to know who you are. And, if by chance a rude or inappropriate comment gets written I can just make sure it doesn't get posted so the whole world doesn't have to know about it.

I hope you all keep reading my blog and leaving comments, because I love reading them.

Thanks
Jamie

p.s. I was not offended by the anonymous comment that was left that has led me to make these changes, but I was a little bit annoyed by it and I would like to know who is leaving comments rather than just random anonymous people leaving them. So Anonymous, whoever you are, I hope you keep reading my blog and leaving comments, just with your name from now on, please.

Memorial Day

On Monday we drove to Wallowa Lake in Joseph, OR, with Cameron's parents. It's about 3 horus southeast of here. It was a beautiful drive and we had tons of fun.

The town is known for it's copper sculptures and they are displayed on practically every street corner. They were pretty amazing.

Joseph is just a tiny little town with about two or three blocks with little shops that you can get souveniers and fun stuff in. There are also little gardens between some of the building that were fun to go into. Evelyn particularily liked this garden because it had a pond with fish in it.

Evelyn and I checking out the fishies.
Grandma Janelle and Evie walking down the block.

They had this awesome art gallery and this was one of my favorite pieces.
After walking through the town we went to Wallowa Lake and had lunch at this little diner. The food was delicous. The lake is right up against the mountains and is just beautiful. There are wild deer that are so used to people they will walk right up to you and you can feed them. We thought it would be better to keep a picnic table between Evie and the deer, I mean they are wild after all. But I did feed this one a dandilion, it was pretty cool. I never really realized what a beautiful animal they were.
Evelyn had fun running around in the park collecting pinecones.
This is the lake. I guess it was formed by a glacier and the hills that you can see on the right and left of the picture were from the glacier pushing the earth up. The lake is something like 300 ft deep and EXTREMELY cold.
Cameron playing with Evie in the water.

Well that was our fun and adventerous weekend. We hope you had a great one too!

Fresh Strawberries

There are fresh strawberries in the back yard and for the last week or so Evelyn and I have gone out there every day and picked them, they are SO delicous! These are pictures from picking them on Sunday.

Little Mommy

After the park, and a much needed nap, Evelyn wanted to take her baby for a walk. Lately it has been her favorite thing to do. We live in a coul-de-sac so that isn't very busy (and don't worry I am always right by her side looking for cars) so she can just push her baby around and she LOVES it, it makes her so happy.

She was happy and content as can be until I told her she couldn't play in the neighbors water fountain (in the back ground of the picture).

leminad .10$

On Saturday my sister-in-law Tara had a yard sale and we went to hang out with her. Our nephew Jakob set up a lemonade stand and made bank! He sold the tiniest cups of lemonade I have ever seen was selling them for 10 cents a cup for about an hour and he made at least $6 (we left before he closed up shop). He sat there and sang songs and as people drove by to check out what was at the yard sale they drive off and then immedietly either reverse or back up and get some lemonade. It was hilarious to watch him. Our favorite quote of the day went something like this:
Lady buying lemonade: How much is it? 10 Cents?
Jakob: Or 10 dollars either way.
She gave him a doallar :)

Cameron's mom took the other kids to the park around the corner and Cameron helped her carry them home :)
After Tara's we went to the park with some of Cameron's friends that live in Seattle but were in town for the weekend. We had a nice picnic and the kids (they have a 2 year old) enjoyed playing in the park. I had a great time talking with Aimee and Cameron enjoyed hanging out with Sean. Evelyn loved being outside all day and all the time playing with other kids. It was a great day :)

Riding in Style

Evelyn loves to play in the car, or should I say in the drivers seat, she doesn't ever leave it once she gets there. If ever she is unhappy or cranky I can just take her out there and let her play and she is instantly happy.

As a side note, we are semi-binkie free. What in the world does "semi-binkie free" even mean? Let me explain. Evelyn has been teething forever it seems like and when she has her binkie in she drools like crazy and her nose runs and runs. But when she doesn't have her binkie in she is totally fine. So last Thursday morning after she took her binkie out for whatever reason I hid it in hopes that if she didn't see it she wouldn't want it. It worked...well she might have wanted it but since she can't say "binkie" I couldn't really tell if she wanted it. But anyways as it got to nap time I decided to see if she would go to sleep without it and she did! Then she went the rest of the day without it and even to bed!! I was so happy!! So I just haven't given her her binkie. So the pro's of her not having the binkie are:
  • she doesn't drool
  • her nose doesn't run
  • she talks a lot more
  • her beautiful smile isn't hidden
  • we can see her super cute pearly whites
  • I don't have to worry about her throwing it on the dirty floor at Wal-Mart then screaming until I put it back in her mouth (gross!)
  • I don't have to worry about trying to take her binkie away anymore
Now you are probably thinking "Ummm...it sounds like you are binkie free to me, so what's with the 'semi-binkie free' stuff" Well I'll tell you. There are two cons to her being binkie free. 1) I feel so redicoulsly guilty for taking it away. I feel like I took the most important thing in the world away from her without even asking or giving her any warning and I feel horrible about that and 2) since we have taken it away she has been WAY more cranky than she has EVER been. I don't know if it's because we took the binkie away or that's just the stage she is entering, but she is cranky either way. So today I broke down and gave her her binkie back for her nap. I'm telling myself it's JUST for naps and when she sleeps at night....I'm sure all you mothers who have de-binkied your babies are thinking, yeah, right, it doesn't work like that. But if that is true then I guess I will live and learn. Evelyn has also been waking up earlier than normal since we stopped giving her her binkie, so I'm hoping that if we give it to her at night she will sleep in a little bit longer.

So that's my story of being semi-binkie free.

p.s. when I gave her her binkie at nap time she put it in her mouth then pulled it out and sort of examined it before she put it back in her mouth and then she started chomping on it instead of sucking on it, lol...so maybe she'll just decide she doesn't need it anymore....

Just Like Daddy

If Evelyn ever gets into our room and the closet door is left open she will try on as many of Cameron's ties as she can before I can get to her. I will usually find a trail of ties around the house. I think it's the cutest thing.

A Week in Lacey

Last week Evelyn and I spent the whole week in Lacey. It was so much fun! Here are the highlights:

-Evelyn getting to spend time with her cousins and meeting her new cousin Annie.

-Getting to spend lots of time with Heather :)

-Visiting the Burtons
This picture looks like Evelyn is mawling him, but really she is giving him hugs :)

-Getting together with Laura and Kason

-Playing the piano (and climbing up and down, up and down, up and down, up and down....the stairs)

-Enjoying the rain (yes, it's true, I really do enjoy the rain). After all, without the rain it wouldn't be as beautiful as it is. There were also some days of sunshine that we enjoyed.

-Spending time and playing with Granpa and Grandma (there are no pictures of playing with Grandma because I was informed it I put any more pictures of her on here she would disown me :) )

-Spending lots of time with my mom
-Spending lots of time with my sister Kelly (Carie was in Hawaii, although we did see her on the last Sunday we were there)
-Spending time with Jared and Ruth and their adorable little girl
-Going to see Grease with Kelly, Heather and Eric at Timberline

It was a wonderful week and we had so much fun!!!

For Tara and Jason :)

My amazing and wonderful sister-in-law Tara and her husband Jason have been trying to have a baby for almost 6 years now and haven't been able to. Last year they began the adoption process through LDS Family Services and have completed all the paperwork and are finally officially on the adoption waiting list! They are two of the most amazing people I know and are both SO great with children and have so much love to give. If anyone reads this and happens to know of anyone looking for a loving home for their child please have them check out their website at: https://www.beta.itsaboutlove.org/ial/profiles/21750916/ourMessage.jsf Thank you so much!
