Elevators

I work in a building with 28 floors in it. They have two sets of six elevators to take people where they need to go, one set goes from the main floor to the 14th floor and the second set goes from the main floor and skips 2 through 13 and goes from 14 to 28. Well this morning I get to work and walk to my elevators and all six of them are open but four of them have their lights off. I thought to myself "Wow, is no one at work today? I don't even have to wait for the elevators to get here. This is a miracle." (I usually have to wait a minute or two for them to get there). But then I go to push the up button and I realize there is a note on it that says "These elevators are under maintenace. Do Not Use!" Okay I don't know whoes genuise idea it was to do maintenance on ALL 6 elevators at once, but that is NOT smart. Half the building uses those elevators to get to their offices. It was pretty entertaining watching people try to figure out how they were going to get to their floor. I ended up taking the other elevators to the 14th floor and walked down the stairs to my floor, 9. So needless to say I made it to my desk, but 15 minutes late. I guess tomorrow I will make sure to bring my tennis shoes in case this happens again, because walking in heels was not fun. And from now on I will not take my elevator rides for granted.
