Before we got married Cameron told me that I would have to start cutting his hair once we got hitched because it would be wierd for his friend Janette to continue doing it once he had a wife. I told him I did NOT want to do it and he could just go somewhere and pay the $7 to get it done. So far he has won the fight and I have to cut his hair once a month. Everytime he says it's time for a haircut I try to put it off for as long as I can until I can't stand looking at the shagginess on top of his head. But I never cut it without complaining the entire time. I'm hoping that someday he will get annoyed enough with my complaining and go pay to get it done. Here is the most recent haircutting adventure:
For the last week Cameron has been saying he needed a haircut. Finally last night I gave in and said I would cut it. I absolutly HATE cutting his hair because before we got married I had never cut someone's hair. I still have no idea what I am doing and everytime I cut it it turns out different and doesn't look good for about 2 weeks until it was grown back in and filled in the spots that look so silly. The other reason I hate cutting his hair is because his clippers are like 25 years old and everytime I turn them on they make this really really loud and obnoxious buzzing noise that is like a mix between a spoon stuck in a disposal plus fingernails on a chalkboard and your car alarm going off all at once. To make it stop you have to hit the side of the clippers really hard and turn it on and off a couple of times to make it go away.
Last night I turned on the clippers and they didn't make the annoying noise, which was a miracle, I started cutting the top and got that done. At this point I had been using a "4" on the top and just did that all over his head to make sure it was all even on top, then I do a "1" on the sides, but I did his neck and sideburns before I got to the sides. I took of the guard off so I could do his neck and sideburns, I got that done and turned the clippers off to see if the sideburns were even. They were a little crooked so I turned the clippers back on and they started to make the noise. I threw it at Cameron and told him to make it stop. (I can't hit it hard enough to make it stop, so I always throw it at him when it starts making the noise) He hit it and it stoped so he handed it back to me and the second I touched it the noise started up again. I threw it back at him and he maked it stop, he handed it back to me and it was fine. I started to angle it so I could get his sideburns at it started making the noise again! We repeat the process of me throwing it back, him making it stop, and as soon as I touch it it starts up again, we did that about 3 times. Finally we realized there was a short in the cord where it attaches to the clippers. If I even turned it very very slightly it started making the noise again. At some point we put the "1" guard on it to see if I could cut the sides of his hair because I hadn't done that yet. Well the thing wouldn't stop making the noise so Cameron thought "Maybe if I hit it REALLY hard it will stop." So he hit it on the floor and broke the guard... It did make it stop making the noise for a minute. But the second he handed it back to me it started up again. We turned it off and on again and it wouldn't stop making the noise. So finally we stopped trying.
So today Cameron is walking around with his hair half cut looking like a furball and everyone will know I cut it and they will say "Wow, your wife really sucks at cutting your hair." Maybe they will convince him to go and pay to get it done. I think for the sanity of both of us that is the best idea.
Oh, and not to mention that tonight we have to go to a family dinner on his side with most of his cousins and aunts and uncles there and then after that we have to go to a reception for a longtime friend of his that I have never met. I'm sure they will remember me as the wife that couldn't cut his hair.

That is the funniest thing i've heard all day long! Oh man! If you want to break into my house, Josh has good nice clippers that he got on his mission - you're welcome to use them to finish the job....I know that's your secret desire to cut his hair twice in 1 week. Ha!
Actually Cameron informed me today that he went and bought some new ones....I was REALLY hoping he would just go to like Dollar Cuts or something...no such luck. blah
Jamie I feel you pain. While Joseph and I were engaged he asked his Mom to show me how. That was embarrsing enough to have her looking over my shoulder, (she can be intimidating) After we married I found out that he knew how to cut his own hair and know I make him cut the boys too. And boy does he grumble about it. Oh well know he knows not to have his mom show me something inless I ask.
